Digital technologies have become an integral part of the modern world and offer enormous potential for the successful implementation of higher education. Since 2019, the faculty has been training students in the innovative educational program 6B07105 “Digital Technologies in Mechanical Engineering” and since 2024 6B061 0 6 “IT Engineering”.
The faculty consists of 4 departments, 3 of which graduate in “Technological equipment, mechanical engineering and standardization”, “Metallurgy and new materials”, “Chemistry and chemical technology” and 1 general education department ” Foreign languages “.
The faculty also includes the Kazakhstan Welding Institute and the Kazakh-Belarusian Mechanical Engineering Center. The following modern laboratories are also available:
• International Center for Materials Science,
• “Nanotechnology in metallurgy”
• Scientific educational complex “Digital engineering”,
• A conference room for online conferences and the implementation of STEAM methodology in the training of engineers,
• Laboratory ” Creative Learning » to implement virtual/augmented reality in the process of teaching foreign languages and developing STEM scientific and linguistic literacy of engineers through digital learning technologies, including artificial intelligence.
Educational activities are carried out by 105 teachers, including 5 laureates of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 5 doctors of science, 20 candidates of science, 21 doctors of philosophy PhD, 25 holders of the State grant ” Best University Teacher “.
Considering that the successful digital transformation of higher education requires a shift from traditional teaching models to active learning methods with an emphasis on project-based learning, the faculty employs innovative teaching methods in the educational process, leveraging modern laboratory equipment. Project-based learning allows students to apply acquired knowledge in practice, develop creative thinking, teamwork skills, and the ability to solve complex problems – essential qualities of a modern graduate.
At the end of the year, in the competition “Best Faculty” Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University Faculty of Metallurgy and Mechanical Engineering has repeatedly won awards in recent years. All undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs were internationally accredited by the ASIIN agency (Germany) in 2022 and awarded the European Quality Mark.
