INTERNATIONAL CENTER FOR MATERIALS SCIENCE

The objectives of the creation of the International Center for Materials Science (ICM):

– Creation and provision of access for scientific research based on the use of a website and an information portal in the field of materials science by domestic and foreign scientists.

– Providing access to the information of the central hub for the exchange of information and the sharing of resources for the research community of Kazakhstan.

– Ensuring the conduct of research and development work (R&D) by subjects of scientific and scientific and technical activities.

– Coordination of the activities of national laboratories, collective use laboratories, research centers in a single virtualization space with laboratories and centers Abroad.

The activity of the International Center for Materials Science is considered as the coordination of the activities of national laboratories, collective use laboratories, research centers in a single visualization space with laboratories and centers of Foreign countries and ensuring the conduct of research and development work (R&D) by subjects of scientific and scientific-technical activities in the field of materials science and mining sector, it also promotes the cooperation of senior and junior researchers and the involvement of undergraduates in research activities.

Currently, within the framework of the International Center for Materials Science, grant financing topics are being implemented: “Development and implementation of technology for the production of Nihard-class cast irons with enhanced performance properties for mining and metallurgical equipment parts” (contract with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 244-3 dated November 12, 2020); “Development and implementation of technology for the production of chromium antifriction cast iron for parts of mining equipment” (contract with KN MES RK No. 115-KMU2-1 dated 12.03.2021); “Development and implementation of a new heat-resistant alloy and technology for producing parts for metallurgical production based on it” (contract with the KN of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 115-KMU2-2 dated 12.03.2021).

Classes are held with students, undergraduates and doctoral students in the educational programs “Metallurgy” and “Materials Science and technology of new materials”.

On the basis of the International Center of Materials Science at Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University, technologies for smelting new heat-resistant alloys have been developed and introduced into production, theoretical calculations have been carried out, a vacuum flask installation with side and lower air intake has been designed, patented and introduced into production, which has improved the technological process of obtaining castings from heat-resistant alloys. The relevance is due to the lack of production of heat-resistant materials in our country. The creation of its own production of heat-resistant alloys has reduced import dependence in this sector, created new jobs and raised foundry and metallurgical production to a new level. The heat resistance of the experimental alloy at a significantly lower cost (by 40-50%) compared to nickel alloys, have similar heat-resistant properties with them. All this is at the heart of the technologies being developed by the staff of the Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University.
