Department of Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence
The Department of Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence was established in 1960 under the name “Applied Mechanics.” The first head of the department was Associate Professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences I. L. Derevinsky.
Since 2001, the department has been one of the first in Kazakhstan to train specialists in the field of information security.
Today, the department focuses on computer-aided design of computer technologies, information systems, new machines, and modern industry-specific technologies.
The Department of Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence specializes in training highly qualified professionals in information security, programming, and modern IT technologies. Particular attention is paid to cybersecurity, data protection, and the development and administration of information systems.
Under the leadership of Murat Galiaskarovich Kozhanov, the department actively develops scientific research, collaborates with IT companies and government institutions, and implements modern educational technologies. Students gain not only theoretical knowledge but also practical experience by working on real-world projects.
The Department of Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence actively participates in scientific conferences and seminars, contributing to the development of the IT industry in the region. Faculty members and students regularly publish scientific articles in national and international journals, sharing the results of their research.
In addition, the department maintains close ties with its alumni, many of whom hold leading positions in IT companies and government organizations. This cooperation helps keep academic programs up to date and provides students with opportunities for internships and employment.
The department also organizes various events such as hackathons, seminars, and workshops, inviting industry experts to share their experience and knowledge with students.
