Three University Research Projects Receive Grant Funding

Following the results of the 2026–2028 grant funding competition for young scientists organized by the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, three research projects led by scientists from Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University have been approved for funding. The total amount allocated for the implementation of the projects is KZT 250.8 million.

Under the priority area Energy, Advanced Materials, and Transport, the project led by Suleev B. D., titled “Reduction of Wear and Energy Consumption of Disc Working Bodies during Cutting of Materials of Various Natures in a Thixotropic Medium,” received grant support amounting to KZT 72.8 million. The research is aimed at improving the wear resistance of disc working bodies and reducing energy consumption during the cutting and processing of various materials.

Another project supported within the same priority area is led by Rakishev A. K. and titled “Development and Implementation of WAAM Technology for Producing Functionally Graded Materials with Specified Properties and Subsequent Mechanical Processing.” The project has been awarded KZT 89.5 million in funding. The research focuses on the application of advanced additive manufacturing technologies to produce functionally graded materials with predetermined properties and to develop effective methods for their subsequent machining.

Under the priority area Ecology, Environmental Protection and Sustainable (Rational) Use of Natural Resources, the project led by **Balpanova M. Zh., titled “Development of an Innovative Technology for Extracting Residual Ore Reserves in Zones of Weakened and Overlapping Mined-Out Spaces,” was approved for funding in the amount of KZT 88.5 million. The project is designed to develop safe and efficient technological solutions for recovering residual ore reserves in complex mining conditions.

The success of these three projects reflects the strong research potential of the university’s scientists, the relevance of their studies and the practical significance of the proposed developments. The projects address important scientific and technological challenges in the fields of energy, advanced materials, additive manufacturing, mining and sustainable use of natural resources.

The staff of Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University congratulates the project leaders on this significant achievement and wishes them successful implementation of their research initiatives, meaningful scientific results and further professional accomplishments.
