Spring festival “Ni hao Zhong guo”


On 21 February 2018, Chinese spring festival “Ni hao Zhong guo” was held in 1 building of KSTU, organized by KSE “Youth resource center of Karaganda” of Internal Policy Department of Karaganda akimat and Confucius Institute under KSTU.
During the event, all those present studied the traditions and customs of the people, got acquainted with the Chinese language.
For all participants, students from China, studying under the program of academic mobility, sang songs in Chinese, played traditional instruments. Interesting and demonstration performances of Vera Isakova with a sword were also shown. Students were shown traditional calligraphy and painting.
The teacher of Confucius Institute Nu Wangtsang showed the students Chinese painting depicting bamboo, chrysanthemum. Bamboo is a symbol of sons, reverence and devotion in China, and chrysanthemum is a symbol of nobility.
In China, people traditionally give red envelopes. Red envelopes are one of the varieties of Chinese New Year gifts. It’s the money they put in a red envelope. Parents give them to their children, grandparents to their grandchildren.
At the end of the event, the organizers presented to all those present instead of red envelopes – sweets and fruits, beautifully served in openwork dishes.
