At the Faculty of Energy Automation and Telecommunications, attention is paid to research work carried out on state budget and contractual topics. The total annual funding of the faculty’s research works exceeds 40 million tenge. At the same time, the customers of contractual topics are mainly large industrial enterprises, including members of the Corporate University-MAP: Arcelor Mittal Temirtau JSC, Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, Shubarkolkomir JSC, Kazpromavtomatika LLP, Kazakhtelecom JSC, etc.

Teaching staff of the departments of the faculty have published 65 scientific articles in rating journals (RSCI, KazBC, KOKSON), of which 21 articles in journals included in the databases of CA (TR) and Scopus.

11 monographs have been published; 36 applications for SIS have been filed, 15 for patenting inventions, 30 copyright certificates have been received.

The departments regularly hold field meetings at 8 enterprises of the Corporate University on issues of an educational and scientific nature.

At the departments of the faculty there are 15 student scientific circles with the participation of students, undergraduates, doctoral students under the scientific guidance of leading teachers of the departments. Every year, students complete theses on scientific topics, take an active part in conferences of various levels and Republican Research and development competitions, where they take prizes. Undergraduates conduct research and experimental work on writing master’s theses at industrial enterprises. Students, undergraduates and doctoral students of scientific circles are involved in contractual work to solve specific production problems.

Every year, the faculty hosts the “International Engineering Championship “CASE-IN” — the largest practice-oriented competition in Russia and CIS countries for solving engineering cases” among students and undergraduates.

On May 25-27, 2022, the winning teams “Basqa” and “TRIOD” took part in the final in Moscow, 4000 students from 52 universities in 37 regions of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Tajikistan and Moldova. According to the results of the competition, the best engineering student teams will have the opportunity to undergo internship and internship in leading industry companies in Russia and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
