Where is France and where is Kazakhstan? But today, with the development of the Internet and the integration of Kazakhstan into the world community, distances do not have such significance as in the recent past. Therefore, no one is surprised by international relations and cooperation with the most remote countries from Kazakhstan. If only there was a desire.
On April 1, Xavier Le Thorivellec, Attaché for regional cooperation of the French Embassy in Kazakhstan, visited Karaganda. He visited our university, which he had heard about as one of the leading technical universities in Kazakhstan, but had not yet had a chance to get to know it better. And as soon as such an opportunity presented itself, he readily responded to the invitation of the university management.
Representatives of Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University, headed by the chairman of the board – Rector Saule Sagintayeva, warmly welcomed the guest and told him about the history of the creation of the university, which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2023, the experienced faculty, the achievements of the university, which improves its performance in world and national rankings year after year.
In turn, Xavier Le Thorivellec expressed gratitude for the invitation and his admiration for the work carried out by the university in training personnel and developing international cooperation. He promised to provide all possible support for establishing partnerships with French universities.
As for the exchange of experience, temporary trips of French professors to give lectures, the French Embassy is ready to take on the necessary expenses. Good scholarships are also provided for master’s and doctoral students from Kazakhstan. Of course, knowledge of French opens up unlimited prospects, but for many specialties knowledge of English is sufficient.
Due to the limited time of the visit, it was not possible to show everything that our university has to offer. But special attention was paid to the Kazakhstan welding Institute, created on the basis of the Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University. This project was initiated by the French company TOTAL E&P Kazakhstan and was successfully implemented with the support of the then heads of state of Kazakhstan and France, and today our Institute is a full member of the International welding Institute.
Currently, the Kazakhstan Institute of welding on the basis of our university is a modern educational and technical complex for training specialists in welding production. It is located in a separate building and is equipped with the latest welding equipment manufactured in the USA, Sweden, Finland and Italy. It has the necessary multimedia equipment and educational and methodological materials, and the staff of the welding Institute consists of highly qualified specialists with extensive experience in both research and practical work in the field of welding production.
At the end of the visit, which promises a new step in the development of cooperation between French universities and Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University, the parties exchanged contacts and souvenirs.
