«Lessons from History – Honoring the Past»: A Poetry Contest for Young Poets Held at Saginov Technical University


A special spiritual evening was held at Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University. Organized by the College of Innovative Technologies, the competition was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory and the 110th anniversary of the prominent scientist, academician, and Honorary Citizen of Karaganda, Abylkas Saginov. Young talents from regional secondary schools, as well as technical and vocational education institutions, participated in the poetry contest.

 

First, the guests were presented with an exhibition of books dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory and the works of Academician Abylkas Saginov. Additionally, the “JADIGER” handicraft association organized an exhibition of national crafts by renowned artisans.

In his speech, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the university, Bekbolat Nussupbekov, said: “This poetry contest is not just a creative competition, it is a tribute to courage and labor, and a golden bridge of spiritual continuity. Through the poetry of young poets, we honor our great history and create a vision for the future.”

Also, the head of the Educational and Methodological Center for the Development of Education in the Karaganda region, Bakytgul Abdikirova, the director of the College of Innovative Technologies, Nurbibi Smagulova, and Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Savet Sagyntayev wished success to the young participants and expressed their heartfelt wishes. Professor Savet Sagyntayev’s blessing inspired the young poets.

This year’s poetry contest had three themes: the Great Victory, the life and work of Abylkas Saginov, and working professions.

The panel of judges consisted of prominent local writers, journalists, and cultural representatives. The judges ensured a fair and transparent competition, carefully evaluating the performance of each participant. As a result, the grand prize was awarded to Kausar Akhmet. Aliya Kortenbai was awarded the 1st place, while Aida Amangeldi took 2nd place. The 3rd place was given to Aizad Musiraliyeva.

The winners of the competition were awarded special diplomas from the College of Innovative Technologies, along with trophies and valuable gifts.
