KSTU was one of the first who responded to the call of the Earth Fund “Sustainable development” to take part in the Republican ecological campaign “National forest planting day” on the eve of ecology year. In the framework of this action, laying of memorial walkways, planting of trees will be organized.
On April 29, 2017 at 10: 00 in Karaganda, the Alley of KSTU professors who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the University and Central Kazakhstan region will be laid near the main building of the University, behind the monument ofacademician A. S. Saginov.
30 beautiful fir-trees will be planted near the main building of KSTU and every tree will have a plate bearing the surname of the Professor.
In addition, 110 saplings of birch, pine, spruce were given free of chargeto KSTU by Director of a large regional holding company “Imstalcon-Temirtau” LLP, Deputy of Karaganda regionalmaslikhat – Ivan Georgiadi. This action is dedicated to the Victory Day.
The tradition of planting trees by scientists and students has a very long history. The first mention of it found in the XVI century, when students and professors of Salamanca (University of Spain) planted more than two thousand trees along the Leon road to commemorate the victory over the epidemic of plague and drought.
Since then it has become a tradition at present, students conduct and cover these events with interest. In fact, besides the environmental benefit and strengthen of “green lungs” of our country, the appearance of such alleys is also a cultural and educational aspect: patriotic education of students, introducing history of your University and city to them.
