The Department of Foreign Languages was established in 1953 at Karaganda Mining Institute.
During its existence the Heads of this Department have been: Senior English teacher Timokhina L.L. (1953-1988), Ph.D., professor. Gontsova S.A. (1988- 2001), an associate professor Ospanova B.R. (2001-2011) and now the head of the department is Ph.D., associate professor Jantassova Damira Dulatovna since 2011.
The Department of Foreign Languages was reestablished in 2011 in Karaganda State Technical University.
