The forum of rectors of Kazakhstan and Russia universities


From 8 to 10 November 2017, the XIV forum of Interregional cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Chelyabinsk. For the first time in the framework of this event, the Forum of Russia and Kazakhstan rectors was held in the South Ural State University.

The forum was attended by 126 universities. The Republic of Kazakhstan was represented by 49 higher education institutions. The main theme of the event was human capital and competitiveness.

The forum was opened by the President of the Russian Union of rectors, rector of M.V. Lomonossov Moscow State University Victor Sadovnichy and the Chairman of Kazakhstan Rectors Council, rector of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University Yerlan Sadykov. The work was carried out in several strategic areas: education as a key factor in increasing the competitiveness of human capital, development of innovation activities of the universities and the strategic partnership of universities of Russia and Kazakhstan.

Also, the forum outlined the prospects of cooperation of higher education institutions. Focusing on reforms in education policies, heads of institutions identified new areas of cooperation and signed over 50 memorandums. Rector of Karaganda State Technical University, professor, Ph. D., M.K. Ibatov signed a Memorandum of cooperation with Ural State Mining University, Chelyabinsk State University and South Ural State University.
