About The Confucius Institute of KSTU

КонфуцийIn order to further strengthen of Chinese-Kazakh cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, assist in the study and teaching of Chinese language as a means of promoting mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and Kazakh people on the 28th of October, 2009 rector of KSTU, academician of NAS RK A.M. Gazaliyev and rector of the Pedagogical Institute at Shihezi University Cai Wenbo signed the Memorandum of cooperation between universities, as well as the agreement on the establishment of the Confucius Institute at KSTU.

On November 27, 2012 solemn ceremony of opening of the Confucius Institute at KSTU. At the opening ceremony were present: adviser to the Embassy of China to Kazakhstan Chen Hungan, a delegation from Shihezy University headed by the rector Xiang Banchun, as well as representatives of Confucius Institutes from Almaty, Astana and Aktyubinsk.

As a window into the world of the East, Confucius Institute meets the needs of those wishing to learn Chinese language worldwide, helps people from different countries to learn about the culture and history of China, acquainting them with the achievements of the Chinese civilization, serves as a bridge of culture, friendship and mutual understanding between China and the Nations of the world. Activities of the Confucius Institute is directed on achievement of educational, scientific and cultural educational purposes. The Confucius Institute is tasked with the development of cooperation with the universities of the people’s Republic of China.

Confucius Institute at Karaganda State Technical University is part of a global network of Confucius institutes – Chinese cultural and educational centers of learning the language and culture of China.

The first Confucius Institute was opened in November 21, 2004 in Seoul. In today’s world there are about 400 institutions and 500 Confucius classes in 105 countries and regions of the world, the number of registered listeners amounted to 800,000 people.

The mission of the Confucius Institutes to encourage understanding of China and Chinese culture around the world, develop friendly relationship between China and other countries, promote the development of multiple cultures around the world, contributing to the creation of friendly relations throughout the world.

The main goal of the Confucius Institute at KSTU – strengthening cooperation in the sphere of education between China and the Republic of Kazakhstan, improvement and understanding of people of the Republic of Kazakhstan of Chinese language and culture, to improve mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries, further development of friendly relations between China and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Functions of The Confucius Institute

  • Opening of the courses of Chinese language in different directions.
  • Consulting on issues of the teaching of the Chinese language in the Republic of Kazakhstan and assist in the preparation of local teachers of the Chinese language.
  • Organization of scientific activities and competitions related to Chinese language and culture.
  • Show organization of Chinese films and TV programs.
  • Conducting different kinds of exams in the Chinese language, and certification on the right of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
  • Provision of consulting services for those willing to study in China.
  • Joint development of local books on Chinese language of applied character.
