In Kazakhstan, applications are now open for the “Golden Hephaestus” award -one of the most prestigious professional honors in the country’s mining and metallurgical complex (MMC)
The year 2026 has been declared the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence under a decree signed on January 6, 2026, by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev
In line with this national agenda, this year’s award places a special focus on practical innovation, digital solutions, and technological advancement in the industry.
The award brings together leading professionals, companies, projects, and initiatives shaping the present and future of the MMC
“Professional of the Year” Categories:
- Geologist of the Year
• Miner of the Year
• Metallurgist of the Year
• Underground Miner of the Year
• Mineral Processing Specialist of the Year
• Women in MMC
Additional Categories:
- Best Social Project
• Industrial Safety Leader of the Year
• Mentor of the Year
• Educator of the Year
• Graduate Thesis of the Year
• Best Digital Solution in MMC (special nomination by ERG)
Updated Media Categories:
- “Media Project of the Year. Best Journalism in Print Media on MMC”
• “Media Project of the Year. Best Journalism on MMC in Online Resources”
The former “Best ESG Strategy” category has been transformed into:
“Best Project in Ecology and Water Resources”, highlighting practical and impactful environmental initiatives.

Award Ceremony: June 11, 2026
