On November 24, 2022, Acting Head of the TCS Department Kaliaskarov N.B. organized a scientific seminar on the topic “Publication of articles in scientific journals” for undergraduate students of the educational program “Radio Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications”. The purpose of the seminar was to familiarize students with scientific journals, requirements, databases and the procedure for sending articles. The speaker announced the division of journals by Scopus, Web of Sciences, KazBC, RSCI, RSCI databases and journals recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education (COXNVO). The definition of quartiles and percentiles was explained to students, an answer was received on the author’s individual identifier and bindings to the ORCID. According to the journals recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education, a list of publications and scientific papers equated to this list today is presented. Links to Scimagojr, Scopus, Web of Sciences and COXNVO are provided.
In the second half of the seminar, information on the structure of a scientific article is presented, which consists of the following sections: abstract; introduction; analysis of literary data and problem statement; purpose and objectives of the study; materials and methods of research; research results; discussion of results; conclusions; literature. For each section, the speaker explained the key competencies, definitions and recommendations for the correct writing of the article.
The seminar was attended by 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students wishing to enroll in the future in the scientific and pedagogical direction of the magistracy and their curators.
