Iraq’s Middle Technical University has expressed interest in establishing cooperation with Saginov Technical University. The proposal was discussed during a meeting with a delegation headed by Jaber Najm Abdullah Al-Tamimi, Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Iraq in the Republic of Kazakhstan and PhD in Political Science.
The Iraqi delegation presented an overview of Iraq’s higher education system and the development of its technical universities, and proposed establishing academic and research ties with Saginov Technical University.
Timur Kanapyanov presented the university’s academic programmes, research potential and international cooperation opportunities.
Rector Saule Sagintaeva expressed the university’s readiness to develop cooperation with Iraqi higher education institutions and suggested exploring the possibility of launching a dual-degree programme in the future.
The meeting also focused on student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects and opportunities to establish partnerships with other Iraqi universities.
Saginov Technical University was also represented by Vice-Rectors Bekbolat Nussupbekov, Timur Kanapyanov and Ali Mehtiyev, as well as Director of the Department of International Cooperation Sabina Rakhimbayeva.
The Iraqi delegation invited representatives of Saginov Technical University to participate in an international scientific event in Iraq scheduled for April.
A visit by the leadership of Middle Technical University to Kazakhstan is planned for September–October. In turn, representatives of Middle Technical University were invited to visit Saginov Technical University.
The meeting confirmed the mutual interest of both sides in developing cooperation. As a next step, the parties will identify specific areas of collaboration and work towards the development of joint educational and research projects.
