Relevance: Most precision components for medium- and heavy-duty machinery in Kazakhstan are currently imported, placing the country in economic dependence. At the same time, the level of development of metallurgical and foundry production in Kazakhstan allows for the production of domestic precision components from appropriate materials. The development of domestic technologies for manufacturing precision components is therefore a strategically important task for Kazakhstan.
Project objective: Development of a quasi-high-entropy alloy (QHEA) composition using Kazakh raw materials and a technology for manufacturing precision components based on it.
– Development of QHEA composition;
– Investigation of the phase composition and structure of the experimental QHEA;
– Study of the properties of the experimental QHEA and adjustment of the alloy composition;
– Publication of 3 articles in international journals from the top three quartiles by impact factor in the Web of Science database or with a CiteScore percentile of at least 50% in the Scopus database, 4 articles in journals from the KOKSON database, and 2 patent applications in Kazakhstan related to the program topic.
Results achieved:
A technology for producing precision components based on the developed QHEA has been developed.
Compositions of a quasi-high-entropy alloy based on the Fe-Cr-Co-Ni-Mn-Nb-Mo system have been developed, with the following approximate percentages: Co – 15.6–13.2; Cr – 15.6–13.2; Fe – 18.5–13.8; Ni – 16.2–13.8; Mn – 15.2–14.5; Nb – 14.2–14.3; Mo – 4.9–14.3. The developed alloy demonstrates high mechanical properties (compressive strength, hardness, ductility, wear resistance).
A suspension composition for shell mold production for investment casting has been developed. The suspension includes: 40–80% chamotte dust, quartz sand fraction –100 µm – remainder, 1% aluminum nitrate and 1% ethyl silicate over 100%. The obtained suspension exhibits good technological properties (workability and sedimentation stability), and the resulting shell demonstrates strength and crack resistance nearly twice as high as a shell made from quartz sand. Moreover, this suspension composition allows recycling chamotte waste, which is a technogenic by-product requiring storage and processing.
A technology for producing precision components from experimental QHEA using investment casting (IC) has been developed. Based on this technology, experimental samples were cast – specifically, a sprocket of the upper conveyor shaft. Tests under real operating conditions showed an average service life increase of about 20% compared to existing components.
