International Winter Schools from Unesco! Summer and winter schools are a modern format of short–term educational programs aimed at mastering additional professional competencies by students.

International summer and winter schools have been implemented at the University of Mines since 2018, with the support of the International Center under the auspices of UNESCO – since 2019. Over 5 years, 2,470 students, postgraduates and university staff have participated in international short-term programs of the Mining University.

In December last year, students of the APP department, namely gr. APU-19-1 Akkazyev Bekzhan, Yesenova Zhannur, Shadieva Madina, students of the AiU-19-2 Beisekeev Saken, Iskakov Abylai and gr. EE-19-2 Sayatuly Zharkyn together with senior lecturer Tokhmetova Kuralai Muratbekovna participated in the International Forum on the 50th anniversary of the Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, which was held at St. Petersburg Mining University (St. Petersburg, Russia) and participated in the winter school in the areas of “Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Energy” and “Digital mining production” within the framework of this forum in full-time format.

On January 25, representatives of Nazarbayev University – Associate Professor of the Department of Mechatronics and Robotics NU Tohid Alizadeh and PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Mechatronics and Robotics NU Nietkaliyev Aibek were on an official visit to Karaganda Technical University named after A. Saginov. The main purpose of the visit is to prepare a training program for students of A.Saginov University in the direction of “Mechatronics and robotics” according to the educational program of Nazarbayev University. Today robotics and mechatronics is one of the dynamically developing specialties in Kazakhstan. Nazarbayev University is one of the few universities where future roboticists are trained. The profession is becoming more and more popular among boys and girls, and every year the number of applicants for this specialty is growing. I would like to note that at the Department of Automation of Production Processes @appkstu named after A. Saginov, students of the educational program 6B07101 “Automation and Control” after completing the second year are given a choice of two trajectories: “Automation of technological processes” and “Mechatronics and Robotics”.

In this regard, cooperation between the Saginov University and Nazarbayev University seems promising. At the meeting, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the A.Saginov University Temerbayeva Aizhan Maratovna noted the importance of this cooperation and the international experience of professors of Nazarbayev University, which will give the best result in the framework of training in the direction of “Mechatronics and Robotics” in our region.
