The «Silver University» project, implemented in the country since 2021, opens the way for older citizens to acquire new knowledge and skills. As part of this initiative, the ministry of science and higher education of the Republic of Kazakhstan approved special methodological recommendations.
In this direction, the Institute for advanced training of Abilkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University organized a course «Nordic Walking» for students from July 16 to August 19. The classes were conducted by a specialist, an experienced trainer Zhaslan Gabdullin.
During the course, participants combined theoretical knowledge with practical experience, learning the health benefits and correct technique of nordic walking. The interest and positive feedback from the 36 participants who actively participated in each lesson clearly demonstrated the importance of this course.
«Silver University» is an international movement that helps older people get a second profession and master new areas. This social project for citizens over 50 years old provides an opportunity for self-development and active participation in public life. This model has been successfully implemented in France, England, China and Japan for over sixty years.
In the future, Abilkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University plans to conduct more in-demand courses in various areas within the framework of the «Silver University» project.
