Confucius Institute Day

On 27 September, the staff and students of KSTU celebrated the anniversary of Confucius Institute. It was a meeting of those who are passionate about Chinese culture and beginners who want to expand their knowledge of The Heavenly Empire.

Calligraphy classes in the east are considered as an art and a special technique of meditation that allows you to tune in to creativity and creation. Zhao Yanjun introduced this art to KSTU students.

Zhang Liqin and Qu Ting demonstrated “Jianzhi” tecnique— the art of carving patterns out of paper. UNESCO has classified this kind of purely Chinese folk decorative-applied art to the world’s cultural heritage. The art of paper-cut has an ancient history: the first samples of paper patterns, discovered by archaeologists, date back to the VI century. At first, the patterns were used for religious purposes in funerary rituals. In ancient times, every Chinese girl wishing to marry had to be able to create paper masterpieces. After all, these sacred patterns were used for decoration of the sacrificial offerings at ceremonies honoring the gods and ancestors.

Now, masters of this art show in their works the life and work of ordinary people, birds and animals, in short, all the beauty that exists in this world can decorate the interior.

The teacher of Confucius Institute Qin Yang enthusiastically told about the details of traditional costume and KSTU students studying Chinese language were able to practice translation. Especially the attention of students was attracted by the opportunity to try national Chinese costumes on. Moreover, the largest number of selfies were made by enthusiastic participants of the ceremony of dressing.
