Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University is pleased to announce a Call for Research Project Proposals under the internal grant program “SaginovFund: Support for Internal Scientific Initiatives.”
Purpose of the Call: The main objective of this competition is to promote research activities and enhance the scientific potential of the university’s academic staff.
Key Information:
- Organizers: Department of Science and Innovation (including the Innovation and Research & Technical Programs Unit);
- Eligible Applicants: Full-time faculty and staff with at least 12 months of employment at the university;
- Project Leader: Must hold a scientific degree, have at least 36 months of work experience at the university, be a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and meet the publication requirements;
- Type of Research: Fundamental or applied;
- Project Duration: 12 months.
What We Offer:
- 4 internal research grants available in 2025 for the most promising scientific projects;
- 5,000,000 KZT for each project to support its implementation;
- Recognition and support within the scientific community;
- Individual support at all stages of the grant process.
Expected Outcomes:
Within the 12-month implementation period, the project must achieve the following results:
- Publications in journals recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education (CQASHE) and/or indexed in Scopus or Web of Science databases;
- Registration of research results in the National Research and Technical Database (NRTD);
- Integration of project outcomes into the educational or industrial process;
- Patent application or copyright registration (depending on the project scope);
- Submission and defense of scientific and financial reports.
Funding Guidelines:
Grant funds may be used for:
- Purchasing equipment, materials, and software;
- Domestic and international travel expenses related to research;
- Rental of facilities, equipment, and research infrastructure;
- Services of third-party organizations (no more than 20% of the total budget).
Salaries and other personal compensation are not eligible for funding.

Selection and Evaluation:
- Proposals will be evaluated by the Competition Committee using 10 evaluation criteria (maximum score: 100 points);
- Winners will be approved by the University Board;
- The list of awarded projects will be published on the official university website: kstu.kz;
- All applications are subject to plagiarism checks (originality level must be at least 75%);
- Unused funds will be reallocated through a new call.
