A group of students from Saginov Technical University is currently in Saint Petersburg, taking part in the international project «Winter University in Engineering Sciences», held at Saint Petersburg the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU).
From November 24 to December 7, 2025, young engineers and technical specialists from Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and other countries are immersed in an intensive educational, project-based, and cultural program designed not only to enhance academic knowledge but also to strengthen practical skills, gain hands-on experience, and build international connections.
Within the Winter University, students are assigned to engineering tracks depending on the language of instruction and academic focus: the Russian language tracks Sigma and Tau, and the English language track Epsilon.
Each track includes a variety of academic and applied modules, such as:
laboratories in design, artificial intelligence applications in engineering, material testing, aerodynamics, and work with composite and polymer materials;
modules on digital transformation and lean production;
soft-skills development, including teamwork, presentation skills, communication, and creative thinking.
Students are already engaged in project-based work alongside SPbPU faculty members and industry partners. The program includes master classes, thematic lectures, case-study analysis, and most importantly, engineering challenges that participants solve collaboratively as a team.
In addition to technical activities, Winter University offers a rich cultural program that includes excursions around the city, visits to historical landmarks in Saint Petersburg and its surroundings, campus tours, museum visits, joint events, teambuilding activities, and intercultural exchange.
The project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Federal State Autonomous Scientific Institution «Center for Sociological Research» (FSAI «Sociocenter»).
Participation in Winter University represents a significant step in strengthening the professional competencies and international exposure of Saginov Technical University students. The program directly contributes to enhancing students academic preparation, expanding their experience with modern technologies, and reinforcing important academic partnerships.
