On October 16, Sébastien de Courtois, the Cultural and Cooperation Adviser to the Ambassador of France, and his assistant, translator Natalia Proskuryakova visited Saginov Technical University.
This was not the first visit from French representatives to our university, but it was the first time for Sébastien de Courtois to visit Karaganda. He thanked the university for the warm welcome and noted that he could consider himself a colleague of those present at the meeting, as he had once taught natural sciences at a university in France. With his experience in the field, he expressed his desire to hear suggestions from the university representatives on how to further develop cooperation with French colleagues. He also aimed to find out the current status of this collaboration and what steps need to be taken to deepen and expand it.
The Chairman of the Board – Rector of Saginov Technical University, Saule Sagintaeva, supported the guests’ intentions and expressed her readiness to facilitate their realization.
The cooperation between the university and the French side began back in 2010 when, with the direct support of the then heads of state, the Welding Institute was established at our university. This project was initiated by the French company “TOTAL E&P Kazakhstan.” Taking the opportunity, during the meeting, the university leadership asked Sébastien de Courtois to continue the implementation of this promising project, which has already trained hundreds of highly qualified specialists.
But this is not the only area of cooperation with French colleagues. There is mutual interest in student exchange programs, joint research, collaboration on scientific projects, and more. This indicates that the cooperation, which was initiated years ago, will receive a new boost for development.
The guests were presented with a presentation about our university and shown a video about student life.
