Saginov Technical University was visited by the delegation of the UN European Economic Commission


On July 23, Abylkas Saginov KTU was visited by the delegation of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe accompanied by Director of the Climate Policy Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Saule Sabiyeva, Head of the Department of the Industry Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhanat Igissinov and Chief Expert of the Climate Policy Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Dinara Meldekulova.

The delegation included Chairman of the Group of Experts on Coal Mine Methane and Just Transition of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Raymond Pilcher; Vice President of the Advanced Resources International Clark Talkington; Owen Hadden, the ARI; Clay Overholt, the ARI; Jean-Simon D’Amour Cyr, the Biothermica; Jarosław Necki, Krakow University of Technology (AGH); Łukasz Dziędziel, the OMAG; Sebastian Piskorz, the OMAG; National Consultant of the Clean Air Task Force Sabyr Assylbekov.

Welcoming the distinguished guests on behalf of Chairman of the Board, Rector Saule Sagintayeva, Member of the Board, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Ali Mekhtiyev expressed gratitude for the honor bestowed upon the University, which is always open to such meetings and the development of fruitful international cooperation.

Member of the Board, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Digitalization Timur Kanapyanov gave a presentation about our University to the delegation. It reflected the history of the University, the main stages of its development; the scientific, technical and personnel potential that it has today, and much more.

Before the meeting, the guests were shown the scientific and experimental base, including the Methane Energy Testing laboratory in the mining and metallurgical complex: the only one of its kind in Kazakhstan. International experts highly appreciated the potential of the laboratory and outlined the prospects for cooperation in the field of applied research and technology exchange.

In their response, the guests thanked the University representatives for the warm welcome, an interesting presentation in their native English. They expressed their readiness to develop and to expand cooperation and even, without putting things off for long, invited the University scientists to take part in the work of the international expert group.

Participation of Abylkas Saginov KTU in this international event confirmed its status as the leading scientific center capable of making a significant contribution to solving the problems of industrial safety, environmental monitoring and sustainable development of the coal industry of Kazakhstan.
