Student years are the most wonderful and unforgettable for many university graduates. Not everyone manages to meet and hug each other after decades. Years and distances are a serious obstacle. But not for graduates of the Karaganda Polytechnic.
Recently, one of the groups – ICE -70-7 of the former faculty of Industrial and Civil engineering, now transformed into the Faculty of Architecture and construction, decided to hold an anniversary, 50th meeting after graduation from the university.
Unfortunately, the ranks of graduates have thinned considerably. Of the 25 people listed in the ICE -70-7 group, less than two thirds remain. Only 12 gathered for the anniversary meeting.
One of the initiators and organizers of the alumni meeting, D.Sc., associate professor of the department of Construction materials and technologies Abay Kassimov introduces his former classmates who were nearby.
– Here is the head of our group, Mukatai Nemerebayev, who was a Lenin scholarship holder at that time and is now the head of the department at the Taraz Innovation and Humanitarian University, a professor; next to him is Ganiolla Kussainov, who devoted his entire life to construction and rose from a foreman to a trust manager, and is now on a well-deserved rest; Nurgazy Mussabekov, who headed the Mine construction department in Karaganda before retiring, is currently a resident of Almaty; Taraz Sarsenov came from Uralsk, a former builder, chief engineer and head of one of the mobile mechanized columns, continues to work in Technadzor; Marat Kakimov also continues to work in the capital’s Technadzor…
Our conversation is interrupted by an invitation to a flower-laying ceremony at the monument to Abylkas Saginov. The graduates were joined by the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University Saule Sagintayeva. Noting that the university is always glad to see its graduates, to whom it gave a start in life, she warmly congratulated them on the anniversary meeting, wished them good health, cheerfulness, happiness!
The head of the apparatus of the Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Teсhnical University Aristotle Issagulov, in turn, thanked the graduates for not forgetting their native university, congratulated them on the half-century anniversary of their graduation from its walls. He spoke about the good changes that have occurred in recent years, about how the university now continues the glorious traditions laid down by its predecessors, and has earned recognition as one of the leading technical universities in the country.
Then the graduates visited their home faculty, visited the department of «Construction materials and technologies», and the museum.
As a memento of their meeting with the university, they left a beautiful painting for the dean of the Faculty of architecture and construction, Daniyar Tokanov, which decorated one of the offices.
Judging by the reactions of the graduates, the changes that have taken place at the university have made a great impression on everyone. And they are very happy that their «polytechnic» is still the best.
