On May 13, 2025, the “Study in Kazakhstan” education fair was held for the first time in Ürümqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China.
This major event was organized at the initiative of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as part of the first meeting of education ministers from Central Asia and China, and the 9th meeting of the ministers of education of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states.
Sixteen leading universities from Kazakhstan took part in the exhibition, including Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University (STU).
During the event, university representatives presented opportunities for academic mobility, dual-degree programs, and educational options for international students. These opportunities pave the way for students to gain new knowledge and valuable international experience.
Xinjiang is widely recognized as a cultural and educational gateway to Western China. Thus, the exhibition became a catalyst for elevating academic cooperation between Kazakhstan and China to a new level. It also aimed to attract the attention of Chinese students and their parents by showcasing the strengths and advantages of Kazakhstan’s higher education system.
For STU, the event represented an important step in enhancing its international reputation and entering a new educational market. The university also presented its research achievements and innovative projects, creating new opportunities for international collaboration.
