On February 15, 2018, was held a cultural event dedicated to the Celebration of Spring by Confucius Institute in the 1 building of KSTU.
One of the most favorite holidays in China – Chinese New Year, also known as “Chun Jie” (Spring Festival). This New Year festival is considered as the most revered and long holiday in this country: it is celebrated for fifteen days.
On the first day of the New year holiday, the younger generation congratulates the older generation on New Year, and the older generation, in turn, gives them a cash gift. According to Chinese tradition, this money gift can drive the impure forces out of their home.
In China, there are New year traditions, which are more than a thousand years. The Chinese hang on pairs of red paper, with different wishes on the door on New Year’s Eve. These paper strips are called “Chunlian”. It is believed that “Chunlian” is famous for accurate wording, deep meaning and rich Christmas wishes. Also, the Chinese make paper clippings from the most common images-two fish, two squirrels, dolphins, flowers, etc. Then they stick these images on the windows and doors so that happiness, health and well-being always have been in their houses!
The event was attended by Director of Confucius Institute of KSTU Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor Tatiana Silinyevna Filippova and Mao Yunyun from Chinese side. They told that they organize this wonderful holiday of Spring every year and are always glad to see the listeners and students on it.
The teacher of Confucius Institute Nu Wenjun painted Chinese New year’s paintings and then put them on the table, and students and volunteers K.Ya. Qun Ting, K.Ya. Qin Yang helped her to hang these labels on the window in the ancient tradition. Also the students and listeners cut images of animals and flowers out of paper. After that, Nu Wenjun gave everyone her calligraphic scrolls with blessings.
All this improved the enthusiasm of students to learn Chinese and the desire to understand Chinese culture. From year to year this wonderful holiday is held in KSTU and all students and teachers like It very much!
