Training workshop for teachers of universities, colleges and schools


October 28, 2016 the training seminar was held for teachers of universities, colleges and schools at Karaganda State Technical University (Karaganda, Kazakhstan).

The seminar was organized by the Innovation Centre of Multilingualism and Department of Russian and foreign languages of Karaganda State Technical University.

The main objective of the workshop was to exchange experiences on the implementation of multilingual education policy in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the conditions of updating the content of education, the system of administration of courses in a foreign language in higher and secondary schools of the country.

The moderator of the seminar was Taryn U’Halie, teacher of Delgado Community College, master of ТEOSL/ТEFL, Colorado State University, New Orleans, Louisiana.

During the workshop, colleagues were introduced in the course of the forthcoming preparatory work in the framework of implementation of multilingual education, the main methods and approaches of multilingual education, and tried to disassemble and to perform tasks developed on the basis of the presented methods in practice. The workshop participants had the opportunity to get to understand the algorithm of compiling the multilingual tasks.

The first part of the seminar was devoted to theoretical justification of the methods and approaches of multilingual education as well as a detailed description of the goals and objectives of the implementation of multilingual education. Taryn U’Halie focused on the main problems that teachers had during development of study programs and lesson plans.

The second part of the seminar was organized in the form of interactive sessions, where workshop participants gained practical experience of training. Group work during practical classes contributed to the exchange of views between the participants, and the public discussion of the research results allowed to define common approaches in the development of plans and conducting classroom-based multilingual education.

The training seminar was held in the conditions of a productive and positive atmosphere, evidenced by written and oral feedback.

Teachers had the opportunity of a closer acquaintance, creation of positive conditions for interaction on the workshop. Teachers shared their opinions in a relaxed atmosphere. The teachers noted the necessity of holding such seminars, which enables the exchange and interchange of new information, practical skills in the reflection.

At the end of the seminar, all participants received certificates of participation.
