The Organizing Committee for the 28th World Winter Universiade is headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Imangali Tasmagambetov. The Organizing Committee oversees the implementation of all necessary measures for the Universiade in 2017 at a high level.
The initiator of carrying Winter Universiade in Kazakhstan in 2017 is the University Sports Federation of RK as a member of the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The National Federation of Kazakhstan is headed by Professor Kairat Zakiryanov.
Directorate of the Universiade 2017, which holds monitoring of the preparation for the competition was established in Almaty. The Directorate is headed by Nail Nurov.
2,000 athletes from more than 55 countries will take participation in competitions of the Winter Universiade in Almaty. The Universiade will involve 3,000 volunteers, including from abroad and from the regions of the country. Arrival of 30 thousand foreign guests and tourists is expected.
