Teachers and staff of the «Design, architecture and applied mechanics» department carry out scientific research on following directions:

1. Features of colour perception of the city environment

In the given direction initiative scientific work (the head senior lecturer Lebedev S.A.) on a theme is carried out: «Features of the coloristic decision of Karaganda» (instructor, lecturer Lebedev S.A.). The purpose of the given scientific work is the analysis of a colour score of the basic architecturally-town-planning knots their composite compatibility. On the basis of the spent analysis the project of a colour score of development of the basic highways of Karaganda is offered. Results of the given scientific work can be used by modern designers, and as for course and degree designing.

2. Small architectural forms in the city environment

In the given direction scientific work on a theme is carried out: «Regional features at designing SAF» (instructor Mashtakova E.K.). The purpose of the given scientific work is the analysis of designing and building of small architectural forms, revealing of regional features of designing SAF. Recommendations for modern architects at designing SAF become result of the given scientific work. Results of the given scientific work can be used in modern design practice and in educational process at studying of disciplines: «Architectural designing», «Elements and processes of architectural design».

3. Ergonomic decisions in housing construction

In the given direction initiative scientific work on a theme is carried out: «Bearing systems of architectural constructions» (master-mind Reva M.V., Borisevich J.A.)

4. An Epigraphic decor in monuments of architecture of Kazakhstan

In the given direction initiative scientific work on a theme is carried out: «Features of application of a national ornament in architecture and art of Kazakhstan» (instructor Ljubchenko M. V). The purpose of the given scientific work is the analysis of features of application of a national ornament in monuments of architecture and art of Kazakhstan. On the basis of the deduced laws classification of national ornaments, features of their application in various regions of Kazakhstan is made. Results of the given scientific work will allow modern designers to develop «regional style» in architecture and art, can be used both in design practice, and in educational process.

5.  Random vibration of mechanical systems

Scientific adviser: prof. Bakirov Zh.B.  Performed by: teacher Mikhailov V.F.
Main results: The method of stochastic averaging applying  to the study of stochastic stability of parametric systems has been developed. The analysis of vibrations of mechanical systems to random parametric effects has been done. “Development of methods for solving nonlinear problems in statistical dynamics of mechanical systems” candidate’s thesis was prepared and presented.

6.  Probabilistic methods for calculation of structural elements

Scientific adviser: prof. Bakirov Zh.B. Performed by: Tanirbergenova A.A.
Main results: A numerical methods for determining the probability characteristics of the stress and strain have been developed . The graphical and numerical methods for determining the probability of failure-free operation were studied. The method of design of structural elements with given reliability and probabilistic methods for calculating the stability was presented. Determining the probability of failure-free operation. Problem solving  with different combinations of distributions of the calculated and the limiting stress.

7.  The calculation and design of one-dimensional systems of equipment vibration isolation

Scientific adviser: prof. Bakirov Zh.B. Performed by: Tazhenova G.D.
Main results: The problems of optimal synthesis of vibroprotective linear systems were solved. Tazhenova G.D Defended PhD thesis on this subject.

8.  Numerical methods for solving problems in dynamics and strength

Scientific adviser: prof. Akhmediev S.K.
Main results: The frame and hollow core of the system shell was studied,  method for their calculation in case of static and dynamic loads  effect was developed. Also the theory of multilayer orthotropic triangular calculation taking into account the differences are not symmetrical layers was developed.

Scientific work with students organized in the form of 6 scientific coteries, led by professors and associate professors:

1. Coloristics of cities (tutor, associate professor, Lebedev S.A.);

2. The Istoriko-architectural heritage of the Central Kazakhstan. Problems of regional architecture (instructor, Cand. Sci. (Arch.) Reva M.V.);

3. Kinetostatics of manipulator for assembly works (scientific adviser Ph.D. Professor. Bakirov Zh.B.);

4. Calculation of the plates by numerical methods (scientific adviser Ph.D., Professor Akhmediev S.K.);

5. Improving the performance of course work on TMM (scientific adviser Filippova T.S.);

6. Investigation of plane motion of a rigid body (scientific adviser Ph.D. Imanbaeva L.H.).

Students of specialities “Architecture” and “Design” under the direction of teachers prepare scientific works in the basic scientific directions of chair which are used further in course and degree designing, and as in the form of articles and reports at the international, regional and interuniversity scientifically-practical conferences.

Every week on the chair  is held a creative seminar for students (instructor Mashtakova E.K.) on whom actual problems and tendencies of modern architecture and design are considered. The seminar passes in quality of free conversation, reports of students listen with delight, films about architecture look, biographies of known architects and designers are studied, modern directions in architecture and design, and as competitive projects are discussed. The creative seminar is popular among students as they independently make subjects of a seminar, prepare reports and discuss themes exciting them in architecture and design.

The staff of the chair actively participates in the international, republican, regional conferences.
