 Purposes
of educational programs of a bachelor degree of a specialty “Metallurgy”
(«Metallurgy of ferrous metals and alloys», «Foundry production», «Metals
Science and Heat Treatment of Metals »);

specialty«Materials
Science and Technology of New Materials»
(«Composite materials»,
«Construction materials», «Nonmetallic materials») corresponds to the general
strategic directions of industrially – innovative development of the Central
region of Kazakhstan where the Karaganda State Technical University (KSTU), to
requirements of state standards (GOSO)and the purposes of graduation department
(table 1, Appendix A).

The
overall strategic targets of the educational program is concernedwith:

– provision ofindustry with qualified personnel corresponding
to modern requirements of society, science and engineering, in the field of
technology of production of new materials and products;

– integrationinto the international educational
space by harmonization of constantly update accredit educational program of the
higher and postgraduate technical education, with educational programs of
leading foreign technical universities that proved to be true a correspond
international rating;

developmentof effectively operating mechanisms of interaction with
professional associations and communities on formation and updating
of the
educational program, independent quality assurance of formation and assignment
of correspond qualifications in directions of preparation of chair;

formation of free, physically healthy, spiritually rich, moral
person promoting consolidation of the Kazakhstan society, professionally
demanded on the domestic and international labor markets, focus on training and
continuous long-life education..

program «Metallurgy of ferrous metals and alloys»

concepts about a current state and prospects of development of foundry
production: manufacturing techniques of casting molds, forming materials,
automation of ways of molding, melting of foundry alloys and the modern
melting equipment for production of foundry structural alloys from iron,
steel and nonferrous metals;

– development of research
skills and methodology for working out of modern ways of molding, an
estimation of quality of casting.

development of comprehension about the basic objects, methods and principles
of the organization of thermal processing of ferrous and nonferrous metals in
technological repartitions of metallurgical production and mechanical
engineering, quality management of metal products;

– mastering
bases of technologies of thermal, thermomechanical processing at the
metallurgical and machine-building enterprises, by innovative ways ofion –
plasma surface processing of products;


development of research skills in the field of the thermal, chemico-thermal
and combined processing of materials;

– knowledge
of nanotechnologies and nanomaterials, modern methods of the structural
analysis, ways of mechanical tests of metals and alloys.

principles of the CAD of machines and technological processes in mechanical
engineering;

corrosion of metals and alloys and the basic methods of their protection;

for planning experiment, analysis of results and estimation of their

marketing for the purpose of acceptance of administrative and technological

professional knowledge in the field of heatexchange processes of
metallurgical production (in particular, thermal shops)

          Conclusion:

1.  Distinction of educational programs for
profile and scientific and pedagogical directions of a specialty
“Metallurgy” is defined by the purposes of training the experts.

2.  In this connection, in an educational
program of a profile direction more attention is paid to study of management
and marketing, the industrial practice is introduced; in an educational
master’s degree program of scientific and pedagogical directionsuch disciplines
as pedagogics, methods of teaching of technical courses, pedagogical and
research expertsare introduced.

3.  Distinction of educational programs
«Metallurgy of ferrous metals and alloys» and «Metals Science and Heat
Treatment of Metals» specialties of the master’s degree
program”Metallurgy” isdefined by specialization by the profile of a
specialty and the content of corresponding elective component of the block of
