A NEW RECTOR AT KSTU


Today, on 22 December 2016, the Minister of Education and Science of the RK, E.K. Sagadiyev presented a new rector to the staff of Karaganda State Technical University. It was a well-known scientist, professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Marat Kenesovich Ibatov.

Yesterday a meeting of the Republican Competition Committee was held to identify candidates for the position of heads of state universities in Astana. Following the results of interviews and discussions of the presented development program of the University, Republican Competition Commission recommended to the appointment Marat Kenesovich Ibatov as a rector of the Karaganda State Technical University.

Elections of the rector were held under the new requirements, namely through the open competition.

In previous years, the rectors of the state universities were appointed by the Minister of Education and Science. The heads of the universities often held their posts for two or more terms. As previously reported, this new departure was dictated by the need to increase administrative independence and quality of Kazakhstan universities, and strengthen their data reporting to the public.

The Minister also announced another recommendation of the Republican Commission on the appointment of another candidate Ozhigin Sergey Georgievich – Vice-rector of KSTU.

IBATOV MARAT KENESOVICH

He was born in Karaganda in 1961. In 1983, he graduated from Moscow Automobile and Road Construction Technical University (MADI) and was sent to work in Karaganda Polytechnic Institute, where he worked as senior engineer, junior researcher.

In 1987-1990, he studied postgraduate training program in MADI.

In 1991, he defended the dissertation on competition of a scientific degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences in MADI.

Since 1991, he worked in KarPTI (later KSTU) in the positions of assistant, senior lecturer, associate professor, professor of department ‘Automobile transport’.

From 1995 to 1997, he was acting chairman of the trade union of KSTU teachers and staff .

In 1997-2007, he was the Dean of Transport-road Faculty.

In 2003, he defended his doctoral thesis.

In 2005, by the decision of Committee on Supervision and Certification in education sphere and science of MES RK, he was awarded the title of professor.

In 2007-2008 – Vice-rector of KSTU for Academic Affairs.

In 2008-2011 – head of the Department ‘Automobile transport’ of KSTU.

In 2011-2012, he worked as the First Vice-rector of Karaganda State Technical University.

Since 2012 – the rector of Karaganda State Industrial University.

He has several state awards.

The main direction of research – improving of the reliability and safety of transport equipment, reduction of air pollution by harmful emissions. He has published more than 160 scientific and methodical works.
